December 2022 (Preparing For Next Season)

Prepare your garden for next season

I feel as though the last few months have FLOWN by. Winter is right around the corner but that also means that Spring isn’t far behind! Winter is a time for gardeners to think about what they accomplished over the previous season and plan to use the knowledge they obtained to make the next season even better.

One of the best ways you can prepare your garden for the next growing season is by amending your soil with compost. This month you can watch our latest video on How to Make Organic Compost at Home! I go into the details of maintaining a hot  compost pile and teach you the fundamentals for creating organic compost so you can do it all at home!

Compost is arguably THE BEST thing you can add to your garden to make it healthier and more prolific.

I want to provide you the knowledge required to recycle your food scraps, garden and yard waste to create an extremely beneficial additive to your home garden. The video above  teaches you how to maintain and finish a hot compost pile but if you have questions regarding creating your first compost pile you can also watch the video below.

Skip to 8:45 in this video and listen to the end to see how I create a balanced and proper pile that yields amazing compost.

Get amazing harvests

In the month of November we put out 2 additional videos than we typically do on any given month! Both videos focused on Growing and Storing Sweet Potatoes!

Sweet potatoes have become one of the staple crops that we can grow here on our homestead. In the video above you can watch our harvest from this year AND as we harvest our sweet potatoes I talk about everything I did to grow them and whats required to have a great harvest. Take this information, apply it to your garden and let us know your results!

Did you know that sweet potatoes are cured after harvest? The process of curing sweet potatoes is what makes sweet potatoes sweet and prepares them for long term storage.

Large sweet potato growers typically have large curing centers to handle their harvests, but I provide you a few options so you can cure your harvest at home. We just finished eating our cured sweet potatoes from last season which shows just how long they can be stored.

Not only do we want to provide the best gardening information but we also want to provide you with the best gardening products. We’re excited to announce that we are working with an Outdoor Boot Company – HISEA.

Waterproof, comfortable, affordable, and a Lifetime Warranty!

I picked myself up a pair of these Men’s Slip Ons but they also make boots for all sorts of outdoor experiences for Men and Women. From casual to gardening they’ve got you covered!

A great way to tuck your garden in for the winter and prepare it even further for spring is by performing these three important tasks.

Amending your soil and keeping it covered is important to maintain the beneficial life in your soil that promotes healthy plant growth.
